For years, I’ve dreamed of capturing the real, raw moments of life with families and couples. While I’ve done everything I can to do this in each session that I offer, there will always be a posed element to the mini sessions or engagement photos. That’s why I decided to introduce these storytelling sessions. The idea is that with each of these sessions, I will essentially be a fly on the wall as you and your loved ones participate in an activity that you enjoy. No need to dress in anything fancy, no need to clean your home, just bring me in to photograph your life as it is now. And these don’t have to be done at home. They can be outside at your favorite park. Invite me for a hike at a state park with your family. All I ask is that you take in the moments and do your best to forget the camera is there.
Sure, you could bring your phone along for each of these and capture so many photos, but then there’s a missing element in every photo. YOU. From the moment I became a mom, I knew that would happen every time one of us grabbed the camera for a photo or video. And don’t get me wrong, the photos from the parent’s perspective are important. But your kids will want to see you in those moments with them.
This can be for couples, too! My husband and I love hiking and have had photographers join us for hikes, and they are some of my favorite photos ever taken. I’ve had couples invite me into their home while they make homemade pizza and it was such a great way to capture their relationship.
